For more than forty years I worked in the publishing industry
.I had the privilege of helping bring books, magazines and publications to life, working behind the scenes to make sure ideas reached readers.
Publishing wasn't just my career.
It was my passion.
I loved the process of turning knowledge into something practical that could inform, educate and inspire.
Looking back, those years taught me something that's still true today.

Like many people, I assumed my working life would gradually wind down on my own terms.
Life had other ideas.
When I was forced into retirement, I suddenly found myself facing questions I hadn't expected.
What would I do next?
Could I still learn new skills?
Would I still have something valuable to offer?
And perhaps the biggest question of all...
Could I build a new future at an age when many people believe it's too late to start again?
I suspect many of you know exactly how that feels.
I began exploring digital publishing, websites, online marketing and, more recently, artificial intelligence.
I'll be honest—it wasn't always easy.
There were times when I felt overwhelmed by new technology.
There were mistakes.
Moments of frustration.
Plenty of head scratching!
But every small success built my confidence.
And I realised something important.
Learning doesn't stop when you retire.
I soon realised I wasn't the only person trying to make sense of this new digital world.

.When I'm not writing or researching new ideas, I enjoy spending time with my wife Rosemary, who is a wonderfully talented knitter, tending the garden, travelling whenever we can, experimenting in the kitchen and continuing to learn something new every week.
I firmly believe curiosity keeps us young.
